Anybody had dealings with this company, good or bad?

They were started be one of the lead engineers from Arias Pistons. I haven't used any of their products but they seem to be strong with the import guys..

Looks like they only sell for imports, and the prices always seem to start at $750.. *per slug.* Yes, that's $3000 for new pistons in your B20. So yes, I would assume they could make you whatever you want as they claim to offer the service.. but I think they might be a little bit overpriced for what we're building around here. :-O

Egge Machine will make oddball pistons, but they must be making them of Unobtanium- - - - -your checkbook will need CPR before you get anything made by Egge! It's so simple to grab a specification book and find a suitable substitute for most internal engine parts, that I can't imagine why anyone would subject themselves to the price gouging the resto-ripoff places try to charge for "custom made" parts!

I paid less than $400 for a set of 6 pistons from Egge that I used to install a 235 crank and rods in my 216. They even fitted the pins from my pistons in them. I was pretty satisfied with their response. But you're probably correct about custom pistons being EXXXXPENSIVE. I also talked with Ross Pistons, and they'd do custom pistons for around $1300 for a set of 6, IIRC. I passed on that, of course.

Silv-O-Lite has a great online catalog. You can download it to a PDF and save it on your PC. It covers most all major Makes and MFR's, some Aussie and Euro parts as well.

I use my Silv-O-Lite (paper) catalog frequently. It has a very extensive listing of piston applications, with detailed dimensions such as bore diameter, available oversizes, compression height, piston pin dimensions, etc. Most applications also include standard and metric dimensions. Ditto for the Federal Mogul #115 shop specifications manual, for bore, stroke, crankshaft dimensions, and a lot of other internal engine measurements. Add a calculator and some math skills and the sky is the limit! The AERA (Automotive Engine Rebuilders' Association) publishes a series of shop manuals for connecting rod, cylinder head, and engine block specifications. Used editions of most of those manuals are available for purchase on Ebay pretty frequently.

Egge got back to me, finally , said these piston must be made from forged blanks, which they don’t offer.
Said I should get in touch with Traum. So far no response.
Ross pistons will supply pistons any size I want.
Going to sleeve the two worst cylinders first, see how they turn out before order pistons.

I guess the issue with these 4.0” dia pistons for the early GMC 302 is finding one that has the compression height of
2.375”

Changing the stroke and/or the rod length makes compression height much less of an issue. Decking the block a little is also a possibility. Tall deck Diesel pistons with 1/2" thick crowns can be machined down if they're too tall. Having a few brain cells to rub together opens up all sorts of possibilities. At one time, Chevrolet parts departments sold a "semi-finished" connecting rod for 350 V8s with no wrist pin hole and a small end area over an inch tall. Custom engine builders could decide how long they wanted the rods to be and finish-machine the rods to the desired length. That was very useful for oddball bore/stroke combinations. Outsmarting tech inspectors at the circle tracks where we ran was almost as much fun as winning races.
