I have a 57 235 in my 37 and just where is it supposed to go,I have a miss match of parts and not sure which years of parts I have.

Here's a pic of my 216. The return spring should attach similarly on a 235.

Mine currently looks like this on my 1960 235, but I just found my spring clip that attaches to the oil pan bolt and I'll be installing a return spring shown by the red line. The gas pedal does move very smoothly in the current setup though.

That's what I did. Just enlarge one of the holes for the pan screw. 1/2" copper pipe clamp.
