Maybe not the right forum for this, but I'm wondering if the correct springs are available somewhere for the headlight adjustment. Can't seem to find the right ones for that year. Mine on the passenger side are completely missing along with the metal clip that they mount too. Are the ones for the 47-54 trucks different? If any one has any information to share on this, I would appreciate it. Tom
Jim Carter has them Link and they look similar to the 47-55.1 truck, although the later trucks only use one per side and the securing loop is off to the side.

Perfect Kevin, thanks for that lead. These apparently attached to a steel clip somehow, that clip is gone too. Anyone have any insight on how that was done. I may end up making the clip or something close to it to use, just need to know how the spring is attached.

Do you have one on the driver's side? Copy it.

The springs were probably originally riveted on (a smaller loop at the bottom center?) That's the way the spring on the 47-55.1 headlight bucket is attached, but the attachment leg is offset to the side instead of probably in the center of the spring. A machine screw with self locking nut would work.

Yes, thank you for the pictures. Gives me a good idea of what that clip looks like, kind of Z shaped and riveted in place. I'm sure I will end up making one, any idea on the thickness of that clip, maybe 16 ga. or even 14 ga. Plan on buying the springs from Jim Carter Parts per the link above. Wish it would warm up here to work on things, this winter has been here long enough. Tom
Tom - You might consider putting an ad up in the Truck Parts Wanted forum. Perhaps somebody has some old headlight buckets that are rusted out/not reusable by themselves that could donate those springs and clips?
Can't hurt to ask.

OK, so I went out in my 24 degree garage earlier (24 Fahrenheit that is) and took off the headlight trim from the drivers side. The clip and springs are rusty but still intact and doing their job. Don't want to mess too much with that side, but can get some measurements off the clip that is there. Making a list of a few other parts for Jim Carter's, and will place that order soon. Gdads51, I will certainly consider putting the ad in the Parts Wanted forum. Yes, even a banged up bucket could offer the clip and springs needed. Thanks to everyone so far with your input, appreciate it. If I end up making the clip, I will try to put a picture or two up and you can check it out. Tom
