I am totally new to the truck community. This 1941 Chevrolet 1/2-ton is the first truck I have ever owned. I have pretty much been a sports car guy, both domestic and foreign, my whole life. I currently own four and thought it was time to widen my horizons and buy a truck. I have never owned a truck or any vehicle this old.

In my heart I have always been a Chevy guy. My father had Chevys so that is what I grew up knowing. I always liked the early 50s Advanced Design Chevy trucks. However, when I saw this 1941 Chevy at an auction, I just fell in love with it. The next thing I know is I am bidding on it and subsequently won it.

I think the designation on it is an "AK". It had been restored in 2000. It looks like the engine was rebuilt at the time of restoration but I am not sure.

I really haven't done anything to the truck except I did make the stake rails that are shown in the pictures. They are made out of hickory and should last for a long time.

I have rebuilt the Carter W1 carb but am having some trouble with it. My rebuilding skills might not be what they used to be. So, I've already asked a few questions in the Engine Bay.

It's great taking my Grandchildren for rides in it. The first time my 15 year old Granddaughter got into the truck she asked me if it had air conditioning. (It was in the summer and it was hot out. grin ) I told her, "Sure it does" and proceeded to crank out the windshield. She laughed and thought that this was fantastic.

It's 84 years old and still kicking! I am looking forward to many good years driving it.

Mike

That's nice.

Look through this forum in the engine threads and you'll find a member called carbking. He is an expert on carburetors and Carter especially.

He operates The Carburetor Shop in Eldon, MO and can help you with whatever troubles you're having. Post specific questions about your problem in the Engine forum

@Otto,

Mike already has a thread going in the Engine Bay. If he needs carbking, here is his profile where he can follow his posts or even just send him a PM/email. thumbs_up

Mike,

Another help for you may be the set of TIPS found HERE in the Engine TT sub-forum. Lots of good stuff in there. (Most of The SHOPS forums have a sub-forum for TTs. smile )

Glad to have you on the Bolt. Looking forward to seeing and hearing more about your '41!!
