any one know where you can purchase a set of the clutch head drivers, i just checked with napa here in englewood, and for the 4 sizes they wanted just under 75 bucks, for no more use than i will give them, that is out of line, especialy for my pocket book. I figure a set should be about half that much, as long as they don`t come from snapon. Mike Bourg

All of the major parts houses have them. Check the links for Jim Carter, etc.

If you're not going to use them much you can often use a straight blade screwdriver on a clutch head screw.

Mike, I see these all the time at Lowes, Home Depot and even at the local Ace Hardware. I even saw a couple hanging in WalMart once. And the good thing is that for about 18 bucks you get a set of three.....plus no shipping!!! LOOK around.

I tried finding them just today at both Home Depot, and Advance Auto, no luck. Tomorrow, I might just call a few places first.

You can buy just the inserts, you know with the 1/4" hex on one end and the clutch on the other.

I bought a few at the local hardware store.

you can also get the bits from McMaster Carr.

page 2755 in the online catalog, all 5 sizes for less than $6 total.

part numbers for the short ones:

7188A21

7188A24
7188A32

longer ones available, look at the page mentioned above.

Tucker's in Las Vegas has a set of four for $21.95. One prob tho, the smallest size I was looking for wasn't in the set.

A set of 4 can usually be found on ebay. There is currently a "buy it now" set available for 22.95 plus 10.00 shipping. I purchased a set months ago, they're not Snap-on quality but they'll get the job done. Good luck.

Boy Alvin you sure got some good big box stores down around your way. Taint any of them nor any of the autoparts stores nor any of the MacTool and Snap-On tool trucks that I've stopped, that remotly know what I'm talking about, let alone carry them. (How's that Burb comin along??)
I do have the four piece blue handled screwdriver set that ALL the vendors sell. They've worked on everything that I've found on the truck sofar even though they're a little sloppy in the slots.
I also have all of the ones that Grigg mentioned from McMaster Carr and I use them with my Craftsman 1/4" drive 6pt socket set and a 6pt screw driver handle.

Denny, I am blessed around here. This area has been a boom for several years with Timken Roller Bearing, BMW, Freightliner and all the support companies for them. This has caused a lot of big box stores to be built here but also several other specialty type stores...some selling cheap stuff but I know where all the good ones are grin
The panel is moving slow. After a heart cath last week it is believed that I acutally had heat exhaustion (borderline heat stroke) while blasting on the chassis about a month ago. Wife and kids have been on me un-merciful but I plan to go get some more sand TOMORROW to finish the chassis. Its been small stuff on the work bench lately...guages etc.

Ya got the right idea for this hot weather, i.e. a little bench work.
Talk at ya later.
