It is my understanding that this panel was used in the production run of the 5-window deluxe trucks. Please see the attached photo of the panel cover on the backside of the bench seat where it hides some of the upper springs. The color matches the maroon seat material. If any fellow Stovebolter in this group has this original AD/ND truck upholstery-related item in their truck, would you please share a picture of it? I would love to get my hands on one of them in useable condition and put it back into service. I am going to guess that it is as rare as rocking horse manure these days, as it was made of a cardboard-like material, and likely got beat up pretty badly over the years. Jim Carter does sell a reproduction of this panel.

This panel looks to be a white elephant...have to believe that they just did not survive very well over time.

I have rebuilt a few of those seats over the years and never seen one.

I have remnants of the original maroon door panels and that rear seat panel and they are the same. The texture of what leather looks like is pressed into the cardboard, and the fissures in the panel are black, while the raised areas are maroon.

Luke, your reference photo is one I put up many years ago from the original seat covers I replaced in the then about 43k mile '51 in my tag line. For reference I made a series of about 20 images showing the seat in original condition as I removed and then replaced the covers and padding. I'll check, the original card "may" be in a dark corner of the shop. If so, you're welcome to it. Not sure if it'd be worth the effort though since it was a tad fragile 10 years ago.

ps, you’ll notice pins securing the card to the seat back, I just added pictures of those.

Ron--

This is all very helpful information. The photos are appreciated. If you can locate the original back panel card, I would like to see the condition of it today. I just may place it back into service!

Thanks.

RonR - Those attachment pins look an awful lot like the "clips" used to attach the firewall panel pad. headscratch

Dan, they do appear to be the same clips. My truck still has the original firewall pad, one of the few things I haven't monkeyed with.
