I have no idea what to expect in the way of cost. It would really help to have some idea of what the installation costs might be. You can PM me if you wish. I live in Texas if that helps.

About 4 years ago I paid $8000 for A/C, Power Steering, and tilt steering column. They thought they did me a favor saving me money for I think Cold Air versus Vintage Air. It’s never produced very well. Stick with Vintage.

A Vintage Air Generation 5 AC system was just under $2000 delivered. Both kits are excellent, very complete and diy friendly if you’re mechanically inclined. I've already bought the hardware so it's the installation cost I'm concerned with. Yes, I'm mechanically inclined but pushing 83 limits me to finding someone else to do the work.

When we had our shop jobs like that were time and materials, seemed like there was always something that was not planed on that took more time. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,212 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,212 | Assuming your harness is a new Painless or American Auto Wire setup I'd estimate 16-20 hours to install it. Then the Vintage Air unit could be another 24-30 hours as long as you have all the compressor brackets and belts ready to go. It will help tons if the shop you pick has done this type of work before and they're not learning on your dime. The best thing would be to ask them for a rough guess on time... Mike B  | | |
