To all, with 2025 closing and and 2026, I was rolling around some ideas in in my head (it's pretty vacant in there).
2026 marks the 100th Anniversary of Route "66" the Mother Road, it's also the 30th Anniversary of Stovebolt.com. This presents a great opportunity to have Nation Wide gatherings, Route "66" touches many of the States that have Stovebolt groups.
Our own PaPa Joe has been researching the entire Route. He says September is the optimal time to cruise the Mother Road. He has wanted to do the full Route for years.
I'm not saying that we need to plan a full Route tour but it would be COOL. For us Southern Folks it would require a commitment to travel North or West to join in on the Fun.
This may be something to get a plan together for... more to follow..

Tuts, the Hot Rod Power Tour will run from Joliet IL to Tulsa Ok in June along 66. This is just something to think about and I’m sure some of the MBA folks would join in if you plan something.
Happy New Year! Don

PaPa Joe is the planner on this, he believes it will be a lot cooler in September. Route "66" was actually first commissioned in November of 1926.
If this actually happens, I would hope we could meet and greet with Bolters all along the route.

I'm interested in the drive. I don't think I will do it in my truck though. I'm not interested in doing it with the Hot Rod Power Tour. Imagine 6000 cars and trucks all trying to get to the same place each day. It would overwhelm most anyplace along the route. Also, what about trying to find a hotel room. They're probably already booked.

In the Grand Scheme of things this is a Huge year for the HotRod and Classic Car hobbies. I'm sure there will be competition for Lodging and Camping.
The dates are something we need to seriously look at. PaPa Joe is leaning more towards Camping out along the way.

I drove Route 66 in the mid-1960s- - - -from Oklahoma City to California in the pre-Interstate days. 2-lane highways most of the way, and "no gas for the next 100 miles" signs most of the way across Texas and points west! Quite an adventure! Jerry

I drove some of the remaining segments of Route 66 back in 2019 on our mega-road trip. One of the destinations was Jim Carter Truck Parts in Independence, MO, then down to Mar-K in OKC. Met up with Justhorsenaround for lunch, then on some of the segments near El Reno, which are definitely a dentist's friend. Then West from there. Drove some of the stretches thru the Mohave Desert, including thru Amboy. I recall riding thru that stretch when I was a kid, before the Interstates were built. Mom had a swamp cooler on her window of the 1954 Chevy Station Wagon and was the only one of the six of us who was cooled. LOL!
