I Tried a tip from one of the Model A web sites
on what to use as a cleaning fluid and it worked
better then I expected.
Paint Thinner! Just under $2.00 a gallon,140w gear
oil dident stand a chance with this stuff.
Varosol is $8.50 a gallon now.
Give the paint thinner a try!

paint thinner and Kerosene great parts cleaners , the Kerosene has a lower flash point but with care both work great !

Where ya all finding paint thinner (mineral spirits) for $2.00 a gal Wick?? Any big box stores??
I use Kerosene and I try to use gloves when ever I wash parts but they spring a leak once in a while and some times I'm just in to much of a hurry and go skinny dippin'. If I'm in there to long my hands get numb and start to tingle the same as they used to do with gasoline years ago. I think the Kerosene has additives in it that taint so good absorbed through the skin. But it is about the best around. I used some safety clean once and I think its basically mineral spirits.

Put some (about a quart for 5 gals of kerosene)ATF in the kerosene and it will take some of the bite out of it wothout affecting the cleaning ability, done this with the Safety Clean and worked well also.
