Replacing wheel studs on the rear axles of a ‘46 1/2 ton. Research shows 1/2-20 x 1 63/64? The studs I pulled from the axle are 7/16-20 x 1 1/2. I know that someone, somewhere has been into the rear differential. Did they replace the rear wheel studs with an incorrect size? Appreciate any information.

Can’t say for a ‘46 but I can say for sure my ‘37 is 7/16x20 and it hasn’t been messed with except a couple replaced at the machine shop because some PO King Kong snapped them off.

Ed - A quick swing through GM Partswiki shows your rear wheel studs should be 7-1/6" - 20 x 1-7/32". The 1/2" - 20 x 1-63/64 ones are listed as 3/4 and 1 ton truck wheels studs.

7/16-20 x 1.75, Moser part # 8259 worked fine on my 1953 3100.
