This freshly-cast aluminum “Stovebolt Inline 6 Power” topper pictured here is similar to the new one that you will receive. It resembles the original topper produced several years ago that was made available by Stovebolt.com and had its own limited production run. This new 2025 topper is made with love and great pride by craftsmen at Ultimate Casting & Machine —a small foundry that is family owned and operated in West Branch, Michigan.

All lettering and raised portions are polished. Recessed lettered areas are painted black; the area around the “6” is painted red. The “2025” is embossed on the back center.

The topper has the same profile and size as the original. It measures approximately 9” wide, 1/4” in depth, and the lower tab mount area is 6-1/2” on center.

This is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity organization that helps individuals dealing with food insecurity in this rural northeast Michigan county. The O.C.C.F. Food Pantry is run solely by volunteers and is financially supported entirely with generous donations.

Mine will likely go on the front (almost) period correct Department of Interior license that I put on for shows,etc. as the rear 1951 plate mounts using the top holes on the plate. The Alaska Road Commission was a part of the Department of Interior in 1951.

Cosmo has a neat alternative mounting for a topper that not only displays it proudly but also protects it from the weather, theft, etc ... I'll shake his tree to see if he'd be willing to share of pic of his placement.

Careful, klhansen, I put a topper on my front 1950 plate and eventually the plate cracked. Now the topper is on my front plate mount by itself.

That is what I plan to do - mount it on the front-plate mount by itself.

My 1954 Suburban has only one license plate - on the rear door.

I installed mine today (20 Nov) on my 1954 Suburban.

Installation was relatively easy.,

I was going to put mine on the front ,maybe will have to put a stainless steel frame around it to help with keeping the plate from cracking from stress of the topper .

Who knows when Cosmo will be back around again. Anyway, he has his mounted in his back window (to the seat frame, I guess) along with a vintage "STOP" light. When I can find the image I have of that, I'll post it.

As promised for those of you who can't mount your topper on your license plate -- here are some photos Cosmo just sent me of how he displays his topper.

I received mine today. I got #10. Certificate signed by John and Peggy.
I'm not sure where I will mount it yet, so I've added it to my trophy shelf until I decide.

I received mine a few days ago and it’s awesome. I can’t wait to mount it on my truck but thats about a year away!

Craig, Are 1950 California plates the same dimensions as modern plates?

1950 Georgia plates are wider and shorter and have the mounting holes 9" apart instead of 7". I see that the toppers have slots instead of holes so presumably fit various license plate sizes.

The holes in these plates are 7-3/4" OC which forced me to lengthen the slots in the topper with a fine rat tail file, just a little more. Maybe 1/16-1/8"+ more. That is filing the outside ends of each slot. My other cars plate are 7" OC.

I heard there are some posts made on Facebook about the Topper some folks have gotten. Can some of you (any of you) post the link. We'd like to see what the feedback is.

Here's one that Paul Kruse posted.

I'll probably cut out a license plate sized backer (I have some scrap aluminum - part of a boat - don't ask) that I'll use as a support behind the plate itself. I did that for my replacement boat trailer license when it the old one fell off, leaving just the two corners bolted to the trailer.

That backer idea for the license plate is a winner. I believe I just may do the same!
