I am looking for confirmation of the factory finish on the left and right upper hood latch panel rods. I know that the latch panel had a cad finish. Are the black rods correct, or were they also a cad finish? The photos are what one can see from my 1948 Chevy 1/2 ton truck.

Thanks.

I believe black would be correct. Mine ('51) didn't appear to have any finish on them, and definitely no remnants of cad plating.

I'll go out and look at mine tomorrow but I believe they're black like Kevin said.

My 54 underside of the hood was black with body color overspray. It also had "transport" written in grease pencil signifying transport blue which was the lower body color so it makes perfect sense that thebraces would be black as well.

Yep. Ol' Roy is black. Same black that's on the bottom of the cab, etc.

I reckon you have enough answers, but yes, the rods were black when I disassembled the hood components on my 54 3604.
