As observance of the 2025 Veterans Day, here's a little something as a Stovebolt Salute to all our active duty service members, Veterans and their families wherever they may be!
Below is a selection of the largest published 2025 Veterans Day observation support "listings" I could find, detailing where to find 2025 Veterans Day Free Meals and Discounts (in no particular order) to check out and hopefully take advantage of:
Many of these lists contain duplicate info on sources for deals and discounts, but I found there were also some variations, enough to suggest each listing should be included as it provides the widest range of offerings for folks to search through and see what may be in their areas. There were a few other listings, but these represent the widest and best national level listings IMHO.
One added note. Some of these lists provide for more discount info than just Veterans Day. They include listings of businesses and organizations that offer discounts to active duty members and Veterans throughout the year in some cases, so they can be helpful to fellow service members and Vets as we all know how far our dollars go these days.
On that note, from one veteran to all our active duty service members, Veterans and their families, I salute you and say Thank You!

What a few full and patriotic days here. John did a local (Skyline High School) event yesterday that was very special. He has a funny he can share on that regarding his phone! He took our Pastor who is former Marine Corps in the Smedley D Butler II Jeep. They were treated to a real southern breakfast (Alvin would have loved it!). When they got back home, they drove around the farm in our first snow. What a day.
This morning, he went down the mountain .... no snow but really cold ... to the Scottsboro Legion Hall event. Lots of dignitaries at that one.
I had some old photos that I thought I'd share here. Ava is our Grand daughter ... at the time she did the drawing, I think she was about 4th grade. Now, she is a senior in high school.

Thanks to all who took the time today to offer a word or thought of thanks in honor of all Veterans and may every Veteran know they are not forgotten.

(John here, actually) So there I was ... in the midst of heroes, 100's of school kids, community members, faculty & staff of Skyline HS ... And the big moment arrives for the kids to present the colors -- we're all called to stand for the presentation of the colors ... And I get a text. I had neglected to silence my phone. So right then, in the brief moment of silence when a hush comes over the auditorium between being called to stand and when the kids started trooping the colors ... my cell phone blares out my text alert. My volume is set at full because of my hearing loss ... The funny part is that my text alert is the bugle call for Attention My fellow vets thought I did it on purpose.
Timing is everything ....

Just a rest of the story to the rest of the story ... The bugle calls on the USMC Ceremonial Music (USMC web site) available for down load were recorded many years ago in California (MCB Camp Pendleton). The bugle is actually a trumpet. The musician was the lead trumpet player for the I MEF Band who is now a retired MGySgt and a friend of mine. The text that caused it to play at that most opportune moment was a Marine Sister of mine who I worked with in Hawai'i many years ago (she was the brains and heart of FMFPac PAO and I was the MCBH PAO) and then who worked for me later at Pax River. She was also a Marine field band member and friend of Matt's.
Small Corps ... Your Corps ... My Corps ...
Ooh rah, MARINE CORPS!!
