Hey everyone just a quick question. I have a 1960 235 in my 55 2nd series and I rebuilt the head a few months ago and noticed that the top of the pistons did not have a stamp on them such as 10 0r 20 or 30 over. the ring ridge at the top of the. cyl was very small. any help would be appreciated.

Probably std bore still. If that was the first valve job, then I would say it is original bore.

What is the question?

Chevy 235 had a bore of 3 9/16" ( 3.5625" ). Measure the diameter of the ring ridge to see if yours is still stock bore.

Not necessarily- - - -I've seen oversize pistons without a size marking, but most of them do. A simple $20.00 dial caliper from Ebay or Harbor Freight will be accurate enough to get a ballpark guesstimate about bore size.

Standard 235 bore: 3.5625

.020 oversize: 5.5825

.030: 3.5925

.040: 3.6025

Etc.!
