Mine is a fair redo, I'd guess 30 plus years ago. It was yellow originally yellow. Bed is really bruised.

Nothing like sitting on the downtown connector on a beautiful fall morning. Went to work and then got my hair cut (as a matter of fact, I got them all cut).
Saw this '66 on the street that ran behind my old house. My house and 20 others are now an apartment complex.

Had a local farm up the road call about some damaged oak trees that had been brought down and they didn't know what to do with the oversized trunk sections and couldn't move them due to size and weight. They asked if I wanted any of it, so I ran up with the loader and the truck and thirty minutes later had around 7.5 ton on the old girl. At a rough gross of 25k lb (door tagged at 19.5 but plated at 26) I certainly gave the overload springs a workout but she handled it well.
A few weeks after that I was asked to specifically bring "the" truck to a touch-a-truck fundraiser event for a local school district, so we showed up and let the kids climb all over her and learn what crank windows, manual transmissions, and two speed axles are. Surrounded by modern big rigs, fire engines, trash trucks, etc, the old girl turned out to be the popular stop for most and served as a backdrop for family photos. There's no substitute for the smooth curves of old iron.

I never realized until looking at my photos after I posted earlier, you can literally see the bed flexing/bowing under the load....and that's a stout bed with a 6" steel C-channel / I-beam reinforced subframe...
During offload, the lift cylinders surprisingly didn't care, but the front axle came 18" off the ground when I dumped. After riding out that dump I ran the numbers and my face got a little tight when I saw the estimated load total. Wish I had a scale here to verify the exact weight.
I don't make a habit of overloading the truck that way. It was only 5 miles of field lanes and non-populated backroads though, so minimal risk and no rush.
*Edit* And this isn't meant as a brag. I HIGHLY do not recommend doing similar.
I grossly underestimated weight difference between downed white oak and live oak (the load pictured) as I have hauled numerous loads of 1yr+ downed white/red/pin oak of comparable size and always maintained within 1 ton of door tag rating. Only after the fact did I determine that I was nearly 3 ton overweight. Suffice to say, lesson learned to prevent repeat situation.
Ironically, this is precisely the reason I tagged the truck at 26k as well. Not as a goal, but as insurance should I eve get a tad too heavy. At least in the eyes of DOT and road taxes, I am alright.
Reminds me of back in the day when Dad and I loaded a bunch of cast iron pipe on the '51 3/4 ton GMC shop truck (already loaded with tools and miscellaneous parts) to go to a jobsite. That thing steered like it had power steering.

It was less about 'steering' and more about 'guiding' the old girl down the road truth be told. Just enough play in the original gearbox to make it drive like an old row crop tractor with a 3 bottom plow in soft soil.
My 58 definitely gets the odd Home Depot run, been to the dump a handful of times. Went to salvation army enough times to get me nicknamed Fred Sanford when I was cleaning out the parents house.
This pic was 1,000 pounds of gravel used to lessen the mud where it sometimes gets parked.
Art, Your truck looks like it gets a regular work out. I'd love to see more shots of the whole truck from a future work outing. The one you posted in the Door Art... thread really shows off the whole truck and I bet you get a lot of interest when out and about.

That looks like a Christmas card. They always use AD trucks in cards, ads, tv shows, etc. It's the quintessential pickup.
