It may just be the parts that I buy but my experience is, by the time you figure in the shipping cost, it's just as cheap to buy local.

it depends on the parts. Shock absorbers are a super deal on Rock Auto even with the shipping. I always put to gether a rock Auto order and then do the same thing with Advance and O'Reilly and see who's cheaper.

If you can order parts that are all shipped from the same location, you'll save a lot.

I may have an advantage living in Atlanta. There are tons of parts warehouses in Atlanta from which many rock Auto parts come from. Frequently I've received rock Auto deliveries the very next day - even when ordering on a Sunday night.

I can't criticize saving money but one consideration is Rock Auto doesn't pay wages to local workers. IMHO there is value in supporting local business. No, I'm not a "purist". I do order items on line but, when I have a local option, I prefer to spend it local.

I think Rock Auto sponsored the Stovebolt Page newsletter a time or two way back in the begging. wink

Tiny, they're local to somebody.

What difference does it make of they're paying warehouse workers to ship parts to you from another town? Some of their suppliers might even be in your town.

Gents - Please keep the discussion about the primary topic (the available discount). Up to each individual to use the discount or not and this isn't the place to bat about opinions please and thanks. wink
