My 1940 half ton is still running on the original engine. Now, after all these years it has a water leak. It appears to be coming from the water pump. I'll remove some panels tomorrow to get a better look. My question for now is: Are all of the 216 water pumps the same, or at least interchangeable? If not, then what years would interchange with my 1940?

Both the Filling Station and RockAuto show a break in water pump between 1940 and 1946 216's (RockAuto doesn't list one for 1940) The Filling Station lists a rebuild service for 39-40 water pumps LINK, but you have to send your pump to them unless they happen to have them in stock. And there are some pumps they can't rebuild. Expensive in any case. [on edit]Filling Station says all 216's use the same water pump to block gasket, so maybe the only difference is the size/position of the hose connection. Maybe a later and less expensive new pump could be adapted with a little hose modification. Don't know for sure.

Well, that answers the interchangeability issue. Looks like the Filling Station's water pump to block gasket listing is a little misleading. Link

I had mine rebuilt by the Flying Dutchman. Then and Now Automotive also rebuilds them. I've used both companies and am happy with both.
