There is a breach in the #5 cylinder, coolant leak. Might be able to get away with a #5 cylinder sleeve but that remains to be revealed. There was a ton of work to get to this point. Going to call around the regional machine shops, ideas and brainstorming welcome.

The local machinist I used for my head has a waiting list for engine work. Going to be on the phone tomorrow for other machinists to see if I can get the block done sooner. Talked yesterday with Jerry who offered up wise advice and support, wish I lived closer.

Cosmo,
the breach is actually in the cylinder wall? I thought you had that at a speed shop prior for a going over.

The block came from a reputable machine shop. Can’t recall if they Magnaflux the block, if they did, they didn’t see the issue. The reason why it took so long was that my truck at the time was a daily driver only vehicle for 18 years and I had a perfectly running 235. I finally committed to the 261 and found the problem much too late. I’m sure if I had put together the engine, then had the issue, the machinist would have made good on the block. Too late after all this time.

That’s terrible Cosmo! But, I’m pretty sure that a mutual friend might have one or two lying around somewhere! As a matter of fact, I just talked to him yesterday. He’s also in the nor-eastern area of the ODSS as I.

Prayers sent.
I do mean that.
Wish I had more to offer, but my local reputable old engine mechanic retired.
