Why is the carbon throw out bearing contacting the collar at an offset. The old bearing shows this offset wear. 1935 Chev 1 1-2 ton Chev truck. 207 CID.
The bearing should be free to pivot on the throwout arm. It looks like yours may be rusted in place.

I only included that old pic for clarity. Since that pic all parts are replaced. No part of the clutch fork or pivot is adjustable so I guess GM had their reasons for the two surfaces not meeting exactly.
Punch - IIRC, in another post you had mentioned having difficulty installing the three (3) retaining clips that hold the throwout bearing to the fork. I only see two (2) possible clips on either side of the throwout bearing in your pic of the old unit to connect and hold it on the fork.
Those two wire clips should allow the bearing to slightly twist on the two pivot pins resting in the fork notchs as the clutch pedal is depressed and presses the bearing against the pressure plate clutch release fingers. The slight misalignment shouldn't create excessive wear on the bearing carbon surface as it should not remain in constant contact with the pressure plate when disengaged. That's figuring you have the normal pedal free travel set correctly.
If there is a third clip holding that carbon piece in place, where is it and could it be preventing the slight rotation of the bearing in the fork?
