Not sure where Otto got his information, but A check of a 1929-57 Chevrolet Master Parts Catalog shows 1947-55.1 (1st Series) rear fenders are all under the same part number. The 1954 rear fenders should fit just fine. The difference between 1954-55.1 truck beds and the earlier 1947-53 beds is the bed side panel design. Earlier bed sides have the sloped top rails where the 1954-55.1 bed sides have a flat top rail. That flat top side panel design has no effect on the fenders bolting up.
There is one fender with a slight difference, for the 1953-55.1 left rear fender, as that is the fender with the side mount spare tire recess. Those fenders weren't factory for 1947-52, but will bolt up in place of the earlier fenders without the recess on those year trucks.
