I managed to snag a Carter YF 3211 via Ebay but the automatic choke control came damaged as seen in the picture. Is this something that could simply be glued back together? If its fine to glue I won't make much of a stink to the seller but if not I may have to, as the dollar really takes a hit getting these parts to Canada from the US plus the shipping. Any input is appreciated.
Here's one of at least 50 of them on Ebay currently- - - - -have the seller buy you a replacement- - - - -it's not going to make him miss any meals. That same choke cover fits dozens of Carter carbs.

The correct choke cover/spring is part number 170-U61S.
This cover fits mostly Carter replacement YF's for Chevrolet.
Other covers will fit, but have incorrect spring tension. Many of these can be adjusted to "worK", although not as well as the original. There is also a generic unit available that has a generic spring, same issue.
Since you have the spring, a generic cover with your spring should be the least expensive expenditure.
Check the auction terms, and with the vendor. It is possible that the shipment was insured.

I think you'll like the 3211S. If it has been sitting unused a while, gaskets and the diaphragm may have become hard/brittle. If you need a rebuild kit, check with Jon (Carbking). And as mentioned, please keep the spring. Good luck.

One issue (will not effect the OP as he has the original spring) is that a FEW of the more than 500 different Carter chokes have a spring which uncoils in the opposite direction. If one just buys a cover / spring, best to check the direction of travel of the spring. Your spouse's hair dryer can be used for testing on your bench.

Thanks all for the input/advice. The seller is looking for a replacement, his Dad apparently has a bunch of these laying around. If they can't find the specific one for the carb I'll just have them send a cover that will fit. As mentioned, the spring itself is still fine.
Now that yall mention the spring….I’m wondering if I kept the old one. It just had cracked plastic. Insides were intact, IIRC.
This is where my habit of never throwing anything away….works in my favor. I bet I kept it. Just a matter of finding it amongst all the other crap I didn’t throw away.
