I’m looking for the ball joints that press into the drag link, for my 72 C60 (with side mounted ram assist and 9,000 lbs front axle).
I have access to a master parts book, but I could only find a part number for the entire drag link, 687108. I’m wondering if these ball joint are non-serviceable?
I did try pressing the ball joints in my press, and ended up blowing the tops off on both, leaving the housings of the ball joint still in both ends of the drag link.
I wanted to see if anyone has replaced these, or if someone could confirm they are non-serviceable, before I spend hours trying to remove the old ball joint housings.
Looks like that arm is supposed to be replaced as an assembly. Try this place.. https://www.rareparts.com/ I've found some pretty oddball parts there that I couldn't get anywhere else-after literally decades of searching, just picked up the phone one day and had 'em in hand three days later.
I know my '57 2 ton and '72 C60 are not a good comparison. I rebuilt the front end on mine and used a new adjustable drag link, I was able to find one with the same taper for the holes, it is working well.
