Is there a trick to getting the seal in place or do I need to remove the vent cover, install the seal, and then reinstall the vent cover? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2014 Posts: 4,480 Moderator, Electrical Bay | | Moderator, Electrical Bay Joined: Mar 2014 Posts: 4,480 | I don't know how others do it, but I mark where the vent cover fit on the hardware, remove it and clean out the slot and then install the seal. Once I have it in I reinstall the cover. Hint: be careful when you close it. I usually have my wife close it slowly while I check clearance. Really easy to chip paint on the thing. A friend tells me he used to install them without removing the cover but it never worked for me. Good luck!

We determined that the rubber seal is too hard and doesn’t compress. We found out that they sell a foam like seal, purchased it and the problem was resolved. I suspect the softer foam allowed enough compression to get it in place but I am curious.
Jon, I was hoping to avoid the problems associated with the vent cover removal and installation but it sounds like I may need to bite the bullet. | | |
