Anyone have a page from a 1956 Chevy truck Factory Assembly Manual that shows where to place the radio antenna?

'57 GMC 102, Original 347 V8, HydraMatic, 3.08 rear gear, added A/C, disk front brakes, HEI, AFB carb, '98 Honda Black Currant paint. T-boned and totaled 10/12 '52 GMC 152 Stake Bed, Original 228, SM420, added A/C, HEI, disk front brakes, '67 Chev 3.55 rear gear. Gets used as a real truck.
Mickey - Any way you may be able to scan that template and post it as a PDF? That would be an excellent resource for the many folks that want to install an antenna but can't get the template (they are not easily found).
Bill - I took a peek through my 1955-59 Chevy FAM (electronic copy) and found no reference or resource on the radio or antenna in there. I do have an original 1957 Chevy Accessory Installation Reference Manual and can snap pics to post of the 2 instruction pages that describe the install using the hole template. The instructions cover the "rest of the story" on the install beyond the hole placement/drilling. The Chevy book should mirror the GMC I think.

Okay if I attach it here, along with the pictures of the Installation Instruction pages, for fellow Bolters to get/use for themselves???

Thanks Bill! I've already asked Mickey and he said YES too. I'll work on getting everything together and posted later today after "Grandpa Duty" day is done.
I think the post will include an update on the thread title so it can be easily found by fellow interested 'Bolters.

The update needs to specifically state that the antenna being installed is a factory (or at least factory style) part, not a universal antenna.
Besides the templet, the YouTube video I found showed another sheet with a parts breakdown and printed instructions. Here is a screen grab from the video. Maybe Mickey has that sheet as well????

GMC Master Parts Book 1955-60 has the same part number for 55.2 to 59 as the Chevy uses.

Alrighty then! Here's the 1955.2-59 GM# 987740 * Accessory Truck Antenna installation template PDF courtesy of fellow Bolter MickeyP. Thank you sir!
It is scaled and printable as is onto an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper for fellow Stovebolter's to use in the placement/installation of an original (or equivalent reproduction) antenna for Chevrolet and GMC 1955.2-59 trucks. The template is marked for Chevrolet Series 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 9 and 10 truck models. GMC owners will need to determine their "Series" number that corresponds to the Chevy Series for proper hole placement selection.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For those purchasing/installing an aftermarket or non-standard antenna that may not be the same as an original or equivalent reproduction antenna, you can still use the template for hole location, but need to be sure you follow your specific antenna product installation instructions concerning the size of the hole required. The user is responsible for confirming the necessary hole size and location selection.
I've included another copy of MickeyP's pictured 1955.2-59 Instructions Sheet just so both are in one place. I'm also including pictures of the antenna installation instructions from an original 1957 Chevrolet Accessories Installation Reference Manual * as I think they provide more detail and a little easier viewing of the instructions and diagrams (at least for my tired eyes).
* The GM# 987740 Accessory Antenna was previously identified as GM# 987188 from 1955.2-1957. GM# 987740 replaced GM# 987188 in 1958 publications and the year application description was adjusted to reflect the new number applies to all 1955.2-59 truck accessory antennas. I'm not sure of what part number may have been used for the earlier GMC accessory antennas, if they were also like the Chevy ones prior to 1958???

To quote Mick, "You can't always get what you want", You get what you need". Thanks guys.
