7 JUNE 2025 TAILLAMP/STOPLIGHT MOUNTED TO LEFT REAR DOOR AND HEADLAMP PASSENGER SIDE INSTALLED
I bought from LMC Trucks ($175 with shipping) complete headlamp buckets, fender screws, j-nuts, and headlamp bucket to fender gaskets. I used j.b.weld and a piece of sheet metal to repair the fender where a j-nut is used to fasten the bucket to the fender. Google's AI told me the red wire is for high beam, the yellow wire is for low beam, and the black wire is for ground. I wired it as such. See pics.
14 JUNE 2025 BATTERY, CABLES, AND DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT INSTALL
I bought a Walmart battery and a negative ground cable ($135) and installed with the positive cable (disconnected). I still have the cabin light, heater, the rear driver turn signal, and the wire to the gas tank to wire up. See pics.
ALWAYS un-hook the ground cable to the battery first and reconnect it last.
If you touch metal with the wrench while touching the ground post nothing bad happens.
If you touch metal with the wrench while touching the hot post nothing bad happens IF the ground cable is already removed.
If you touch metal with the wrench while touching the hot post and the ground cable is not removed bad things can happen.

21 JUNE 2025 LEFT REAR TURN SIGNAL LIGHT FIXTURE INSTALL AND FRONT HOOD REPAIR UNDERNEATH WHERE FRONT EMBLEM ATTACHES
I was able to attach the left rear turn signal fixture and wire it up. Also, used some j.b.weld to make repairs to the front hood holes that are used to attach the front Chevrolet Emblem. See pics. And thanks Bill for advisement on battery cable process when hooking batteries up.
28 JUNE 2025 INTERIOR DOME LIGHT INSTALL AND INTERIOR WINDSHIELD TRIM ASSESSMENT
I worked on running a wire from the headlight switch to where the dome light gets installed. Then cleaned up the crusty dome light from the gasket. Applied a new gasket from Jim Carters and using the brightest bulb (1156) in the dome light in order to have sufficient light. Also assessed the windshield interior trim which will need some paint. See pics.

29 JUNE 2025 GASOLINE IN TANK FUEL READING SENSOR AND GROUND WIRES INSTALLED
A new gasoline tank and fuel reading sensor and float were bought years ago. The tank has never had fuel in it. I ran a ground wire to a rail that supports the new plywood floor. And I ran a wire to #26 on my new wiring harness that reads the sensor and goes to the fuel gage. See pics.
And thanks Victor for the compliments. I remember we chatted at the spring ODSS wrench fest a few years back.
6 JULY 2025 RESTORED DELCO-REMY #650 HIGH NOTE CLAMSHELL HORN
Bought from ebay ($30 with shipping) a horn stating it functions (it did). Took the circular shell off and filed the points. Then the attachment hardware piece was broken off and had another one to replace it after wiz wheeling 6 rivets combined. Cleaned it up and painted it. Ready for install. See pics.
11 JULY 2025 CLEANED AND PAINTED METAL HEADLINER CROSSMEMBERS
I cleaned up and painted the headliner crossmembers using the Suburban light Pecan brown enamel (PT140) I had bought from Jim Carter's years ago (see pics). I bought ($184 with shipping) from Classic Parts the brown suburban headliner that I'll unbox and lay out the pieces flat before I proceed to install.
You’re inspiring me to get back to my 41! Are your running boards going to be black or body color?
Yes, we had a discussion Winchester. 😊

19 JULY 2025 FIRST BROWN CARDBOARD HEADLINER INSTALL
I started fitting the first brown cardboard headliner piece and will be doing it slowly and carefully so not to mess up . So far so good! See pics!
Victor I'll probably paint the running boards black as they were back in the day. Hope I'm motivating the community to work on your projects if only for a few hours a week. I am limited to how expensive everything has gotten now.
9 AUGUST 2025. MORE BROWN CARDBOARD HEADLINER INSTALL
I continued the headliner install, which seems to be one of the hardest tasks to do cause they essentially give the material with no patterns or clues. And I thank Mark for commenting to begin in the back and work forward. See pics.
16 AUGUST 2025 ANOTHER BROWN CARDBOARD HEADLINER INSTALL
Moving forward with another panel on the headliner. This process involves taking a cardboard panel and cutting it multiple ways and places to see if it works. Many trial and errors to get it where it needs to be. See pics.

24 AUGUST 2025 MORE BROWN CARDBOARD HEADLINER INSTALL
I am on #4 of the 5 sections of the Suburban headliner install. #4 came with the cab light cut out but it was wrong and I have to make it work because I am out of the stock panels (it came with 3). I may hold off on the 5th panel or section that fronts up against the windshield until I get that in. Thanks Mark and Victor for the comments. See pics.

31 AUGUST 2025 HEADLINER SECTION #4 FITTED AND CABIN LIGHT INSTALLED
The cutout and holes were wrong for the cabin light on section #4. They would be slightly better if the section was mounted rough side showing and brown side hidden. Also it had cutout notches that would have been exposed when tucked into the metal seam so I lost 1/2 inch of cardboard on that side. Section #5 will be ready to go after I put the 2 piece windshield in. I ordered the windshield from LMC and the rubber gasket from Steele Rubber. Cost was $304 with shipping. See pics. Victor the cardboard headliner isn't insulated and I didn't consider any because wanting to save $ with stuff I do need to keep this project moving forward. Thanks for compliments Utahyork.
