Have any of you ever gotten an auger attachment for your drill (it's for drilling holes in the ground to stick bulbs in). People have told me about it but I'm afraid it's going to mess up the drill. I don't have bulbs to plant that often but it sure would be nice to make it easy and quick -- which is what this auger is suppose to do.
But worse, would be to go grab the drill later and it's messed up because of dirt or something.
Whatcha think?

Unless you stick it in a pool of water, you drill should survive some hole digging. Don't know of dirt augers for a drill, but nothing would suprise me. Think of the lil' ol' paint mixer drill attachment. The auger would probably be about the same. Some type of screw design.

One of these in a good cordless drill will do a lot of holes and the drill will be fine.

I didn't realize it was so long. I suppose that'll keep most of the dirt away from the drill.
We need something for deep root fertilization, too. So, this might be the ticket.
I don't do eBay (although there were some on there). I'll have to wait from John to get home to try that.
Cletis -- we have THE AUGER on the tractor. Most of the neighbors use it for post-holes. I think we've used it once or twice. But it was a big job -- fencing at a friend's farm. A LOT of fencing.

Seems like i got it out of some seed catalog. Didnt cost much and I use it with my battery drill.
