I changed the oil on the '60 261 in my '53 3100 and put in 6 qts; 5 for the crankcase and 1 for the bypass filter. After running it a bit I Checked the level & found that I'm 1 qt high and the filter is dry. Where's the most likely spot for the clog, in the line to the filter itself?? Thanks for any tips you can offer.

It’s gotta be upstream of the filter. Are you running soft lines or hard?

Could probably disconnect the feed line at the canister and blow some compressed air back toward the engine?

Most likely it’s clogged where the supply line goes into the block, a common problem. It’s the line closer to the firewall. I would disconnect that line from the fitting and the filter, then blow thru the line. Then I would use a drill bit (by hand) to try to clean out the port that goes into the block.

I've got soft lines. I'll blow them out & will clean the ports where they connect to the engine. Thanks

Soft lines are a really bad idea. The only reason they were used on the original installation was to make it easier for the optional filter to be installed at the dealership. Replacing them with 3/16" or 1/4" OD hard line would be a permanent fix.
