Hello Bolters,

I checked out some old threads without positive confirmation of the mounting order of the core support to the front frame cross member. I have the 2 rubber pads with bolt holes. I know it came with springs when disassembling, but it's been too long to remember the order. Is it carriage bolts through the support, then the rubber pad, then the frame, washers, springs, washers, and nuts. If so where does the second rubber pad go? Between the frame and washers?

I too am interested in your question. I'm getting ready to install my radiator support. I've seen pictures with and without the springs.

This is a list of what you will need & installation procedure:

Heavy Springs (2) 1 1/8” wide X 1 1/8” tall. Spring is 1/8” steel

Rubber Support Pads (2) http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cart/index.asp?sdes=FPF102
Hex Head Bolts 3/8" X 3" (2)
Washers 3/8" X 1 1/4 diameter (6)
Lock washers 3/8" (2)

Place bolt with washer through radiator support frame
DO BOTH BOLTS AT SAME TIME
Under support frame place both rubber pads on bolt
Next place bolts through frame
Next install 1st washer (regular 3/8" washer)
Next install spring
Next install 2nd washer (regular 3/8" washer)
Next install lock washer
Next install nut and lock nut & tighten to secure radiator mounting frame to chassis
There are 4 small bolts (1/4" X 3/4") that bolt the top of the radiator support
rod to the "bull nose" plate.

Missed that post! I appreciate the input. My support bracket is tooled to take a carriage bolt from the top but I'm sure there are variations during model years just like now. Thanks for the info. Curious why 2 thin (1/4 inch thick) rubber pads versus a thick one?

I was wondering about the pads too. I just mounted my cab and there is only one pad per location. I would think that would also work for the radiator too.
