At least 1 of 2 on my truck is toast. Going to replace the two rears when I do the front engine mount.

So as I go shopping and referencing various part numbers….I stumbled upon a “heavy duty” rear mount option. Are these compatible with a 1/2 ton truck? Or only larger trucks? Anyone ever used them?

Mostly just asking for curiosity’s sake. I’m not likely to spend the extra money it would take to buy these, even if they did fit.

This is the type that’s on the truck, and what I had in mind when I started shopping: (just for reference, not my listing) https://www.ebay.com/itm/233769114057

This is the “heavy duty” type that I didn’t know existed: (again - not my listing, just reference) https://www.ebay.com/itm/226458701346

Nathan - The GM# 3711027 Rear engine mounting unit (Heavy Duty) are listed as a heavy duty option unit for 1938-53 Utility Trucks which are 1-1/2 ton and up (including COE). So short answer is no, the HD parts aren't compatible with your 3100. I've actually never seen the HD units on any of the Big Bolts I've looked at, so far.

Did the big bolts you saw have the “conventional” style like the first link I posted? Or something else?

Nathan - All the Big Bolts I've seen so far used the conventional mounts.

So….heres my theory:

If the conventional mounts fit the Big Bolts, then those HD mounts probably fit the 1/2 ton Bolts.

As weird as they appear, if you study the assembly diagram in some of those eBay listings….its two bolts horizontal into the bell…and one bolt vertically into the frame. Just like the conventional ones.

If they weren’t so daggum expensive, I’d buy a set just for science.

They certainly are expensive compared to the standard mounts. Below are a couple better pics from this evilbay ad of one side mount unit along with the diagram and install instruction sheet for anyone interested in seeing them.
