Don't feel like I got a lot done this month. Traveled to Colorado to visit family, so I didn't order any new parts. Back now and ready to put in my 15 minutes a day. First big task was to get the cab on the trailer and down to the body shop.

FYI - I scheduled with some friends to stop by this evening to lift the cab on to the trailer. I was also getting a new roof on my house today and the crew chief said his guys wanted to help me with the cab. So after lunch we took a couple minutes and lifted it out of the back garage. Nice to have some strong guys that can help.

That is Mt. Timpanogos looking north from Provo. Beautiful scenery here in Utah. I remember when I first came to school here, there would be snow up there until August. Now it seems to all melt away by June.

It would be a beautiful backdrop for some 1st day road testing truck pictures - hint, hint, hint! Your progress is cruising along very nicely and I look forward to seeing your truck on its first out-n-about run!

Got the cab back from the body shop today. They fixed the rain gutter on the passenger side and spot welded the gap behind the driver's seat.

Oh boy! I'm lucky to have such good friends. The crew stopped by and we got the cab on the frame! Now I need to fasten it with the installation kit. I got some motivation again!!

Now it looks like a truck again!

Wait till you get all the rest of the big bits moved from “storage” to “useful”. All the recovered extra space is going to be just stupid.

In the garage this morning and bolting down the cab was a little more work than I thought. But it's done.

Ya, I lived my whole life without a garage until 6 years ago. I had 3 vehicles that I kept covered and cleaned the best I could. When I finally built my 5 bay garage, I filled the two empty bays within 2 years.

I now have 3 cars outside under covers. Maybe its 4 cars?

Your stuff expands to fill the space you have available--and then some! Don't ask me how I know this!

Last job tonight - got my rear shock links painted and installed.

Have you filled them with oil yet and bounced on the chassis?

Yes - they are filled. As I filled them I worked the arm up and down to help bleed them. Not sure that helps, but I did bench bleed them when I rebuilt them. And no, I have not bounced on the chassis - yet.

Taking my old radiator to a shop tomorrow to see if they can repair/rebuild it. If not, I'll look at replacing with new.

Hopefully it just needs cleaning out and a little soldering.

Dropped it off at the radiator shop today. The guy will call me tomorrow and let me know if it only takes a couple small repairs or not.

(NOTE: Numbers in parenthesis indicate part group number used in Master Parts Catalog 1929-1948. Drawings with group numbers of the various parts are shown on pages 39, 40, 41, 45, 86, 393, 578 and 579)

Frame was previously checked for alignment etc and straightened by body shop.

Loosely bolt Radiator core support (1.270, p. 41) to frame, attach “V” rod (1.309, p.40) from top of 1.270 to cowl

For final assembly: anti-squeak gasket material to be used between all sheet metal surfaces. (Note gaskets were not installed for test fit on 12/29/2015)

Bolt Right and left inner fender skirt extensions (8.153, p.39) to fenders (8.130, p.39)

Loosely Bolt fenders right and left fenders (8.130) to radiator core support (1.270) at top bolt hole then at cowl bracket bolt hole. For test only attached at these two points. Note: running boards not installed for test.

Loosely bolt radiator grill upper baffle (1.286, p.86) at front of radiator to radiator core support (1.270).

Slide assembled 1.286/1.270 between fender support bracket (8.145, p.39) and fender skirt extensions (8.153).

Bolt hinge bracket support (8.015, p.39) to radiator core support (1.270) and grill upper baffle (1.286.

To cowl top bolt the Hood Center Hinge hold down bracket (8.058 or 16.554), see pages 393 and 578. Same part appears to have two different group numbers(?).

Join hood top halves (8.002 p.393) wait to attach the lower panel, with the louvers, (assembling top halves on a work bench first worked well.

Slide assembled hood halves into hood center hold down bracket at cowl top (8.058) and bracket support 8.015.

Connect lower hood panels with hinge to upper hood half. I lightly ran paraffin wax over the pin to help slide the pin into place. New pins will be used for final assembly.

Some minor adjustments are needed to add clearance at hood/cowl and hood front and fender and to improve alignment at hood side belt line and cab belt line, but overall the fit is mostly acceptable according to the Paint and Body specialist that came to inspect the fit. It was discovered one hood half has a minor bend needing some repair.

Anyone have photos of their '46 front fender install? Mounting points? Helpful hints? I'm currently searching for the two support brackets. I know I have them - someplace! 😒

We all like to think we’re pretty organized until several years of moving parts from one place to a better place, and what used to be somewhat sorta almost nearly organized, turns into a rummage sale of questionable and miscellaneous parts that may or may not belong to your truck.

Today is SEARCH day! I will search high and low. I have found everything up to this point. I know it's here because I've not thrown anything away. Here we go ...

After an hour of searching, I finally found them! They were hiding in the back shed above the door. They weren't hanging over the edge like in the picture, but out of sight. Had to get a ladder to look at this shelf, but I also see some horns and the oil bath air filter.

When one of my vehicles was disassembled for paint and body work, All of the trim and miscellaneous stuff was stored in my parents' barn. When it came time to put everything back together, a couple of important interior trim pieces couldn't be found. I resorted to traveling 100 miles to a junkyard to obtain the parts, which were rusty and nowhere near the perfect ones we had lost.

Restored the two crummy pieces as best we could and went ahead and used them.

It was only a few years later that we saw the parts hanging on the wall in plain sight. They were painted red, the same color as a bunch of other red bush hog parts that were hanging in the same place. We'd looked at them a million times, checked them off in our brains as tractor stuff, and moved on.

Also found these in a box. I guess I bought them twice!

I've bought a few things twice as well. After digging in the parts pile and not finding the first set.

I noticed a couple holes in the corners where the windshield sits. Looks like it's a drain for water? The hole was plugged, so I cleaned them out and replaced the old dried out hoses. Also, I was able to install the dash. I had difficulty getting the light switch removed, but saw a YouTube video and a Tech Tip that helped me.

How does the insulation on the wires look? Is it still able to take a bend without disintegrating? Mine were all shot and falling apart.

Yes - Those wires are toast!

Noticed my U-bolt to support the steering column was twisted, but got it straightened out this morning. Thanks for the tip Phil.
