Can any one suggest the best fitting door windlace for Chevy 1954-1955 1st series 3100 (at least I think it's the "windlace" that goes around the cab interior of the door opening)? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I believe what you need is the same stuff used on the 1952 and other AD trucks and what is being sold today isn't very good at all. Problem is it was run using the wrong die and it won't make contact with the door. We've talked about this a couple of years ago and one fellow tried to get some more made but couldn't get enough support/commitment to make it financially work. Please take a look at the images below. The one in color shows what you'll get today. Look at how it lines up. The other image is what it ought to look like. Good luck!

I bought some from Restoration Specialties. It matched the profile of the original pretty well. It was a PITA to get into the channel, but with some glycerin and lots of work, a friend and I got it done. I have the stuff from Jim Carter, but the profile isn't nearly correct, although the color is original for my 1951 anyway. The stuff I got from Restoration Specialties was a tan, which looks pretty good I think.
They have black, brown, and grey, PN 990007S
Call Jeff at 814-467-9842. I'm sure he'd be happy to send you some samples. Good outfit to work with.
Here's what I sent them to start the process of finding the correct windlace.
Another pic with samples - top to bottom, original, Jim Carter, Restoration Specialties: tan, grey, black.

Thank you, Jon and Kevin, for re-posting, again and so quickly. I was looking for these pictures before I posted my "Help Wanted" but guess I didn't go back far ENOUGH. I really do appreciate the suggestions, part # and contact. I'll give them a call tomorrow. Thanks again, guys. You're GREAT!
