on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 48 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 48 | Hello,
I have a 5.7L/350 carb crate engine and wondering if the old radiator would keep it cool enough. Old radiator is 18" x 22" x 1.75" in size. Fins about 8-10/inch. Plan to put in AC and running a 700r4 tranny. I read some gents get along fine but want some more input so I don't have to redo after I put together. Done enough of that. If the original isn't sufficient, any recommendations with a radiator with trans cooler built in vs. external trans cooler?
Thank you,

It has the provisions for the auto transmission cooler but I am not using them (I have a manual). There are a number of sources on E-Bay but hard to say if they are different manufacturers. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 48 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 48 | Thanks for the feedback WICruiser! I was leaning the same way. I see radiators range from $107 (ebay) and higher. Any issues with the AA3003 radiators or the cheaper ones vs. the 5052 aluminum radiators? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2021 Posts: 1,403 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2021 Posts: 1,403 | I do not have insight into the differences (if any) between the aluminum alloys used. | | | | | Joined: May 2015 Posts: 11,150 Housekeeping (Moderator) Making a Stovebolt Bed & Paint and Body Shop Forums | | Housekeeping (Moderator) Making a Stovebolt Bed & Paint and Body Shop Forums Joined: May 2015 Posts: 11,150 | There would be no significant difference between aluminum alloys as far as thermal performance. Possibly structural, but hopefully the manufacturer has taken that into account in the design.
