Going to need some wheel bearings for my truck. From what I've found the original ND 909546 and ND 909545 are no longer produced but that there are replacements.
Is it correct that National B44 and B45 are exact replacements for the originals? And where would be a good source for them? Thanks!
Oswald - I did some searching of Chevy Master Parts books and online web sources on your wheel bearing question. The ND (New Departure) numbers you posted are only a part of the complete 3 piece bearing sets. The correct GM#s for the bearings you seek are:
Front Inner: GM# 909046 (made up of 1 each of ND909726, ND909546 and ND 909626)*
Front Outer: GM# 909045 (made up of 1 each of ND909545, ND909625 and ND909725)**
The correct cross refernced part numbers are:
* Cross references to complete bearing sets: Part# B46 for brands National, BCA, L&S and probably others. Also Part# WBB46 for brand WJB.
** Cross references to complete bearing sets: Part# B45 for brands National, BCA, and L&S and probably others.
If you search ebay, you will find some of these replacement brand bearings available. Some at fairly reasonable prices, like these WBB46 inner bearing sets. Not a lot, but some.
If you want, you can also find them at some of our regular well known supporting vendors like Jim Carter. They carry Front Inner bearings sets as Part# ME745 and Front Outer Bearing sets as Part# ME746.
Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for doing the leg work on that, I appreciate it. I'm new to these old trucks so a little help is sometimes needed. So if you don't mind clarifying, these bearings would work, right?
Yes to both of those. However, the Outer bearing you listed looks to be only a quantity of "1". You need a 2nd one if you are replacing both front wheel sets. This other manufacturer "B45" outer bearing would fill in your set of both inners and outers.

Good morning, going to re-visit this. I ordered the bearings from ebay, the inner bearing came just fine. The outer not so much. I'm learning but apparently these bearings are "sets" but the inner, outer races and ball bearing cage could be ordered seperately. When I recieved the outer bearing the Outer race and ball bearing cage seem correct but the inner race won't fit on the spindle. perhaps in the past someone inadvertantly swapped it out.
The number on the inner race that I recieved is #909565. ID is about .840". The inner race that was on the truck is #909545 (The best I can make it out. Stamp is tiny and not super clear) I attached a pic. The ID is about .905"
Can anyone confirm the correct part number for the inner race I need? Thanks!
Oswald - You are correct that the inner race (cone) for the outer front wheel bearing should be # 909545. I mentioned above the 3 component parts of the bearing set, ND909545 (cone), ND909625 (cup) and ND909725 (bearing), but neglected to give each number the term to go with it. Sorry!
Are the cup and cone you received the correct numbers? If so, I would say someone mixed up the bearing set somewhere along the line.
Here is an available complete B45 bearing set. Cheapest I could locate this time around. I could not find anyone offering just the correct cone.
