My 1946 Chevy 1/2 ton came with an Arvin brand heater. We dropped the core off at a radiator repair shop today, so now I need help with the motor.

We have no idea if it works or not and, frankly, we don't know much about it at all... Just that everyone thinks it's "cool" because they've never seen one. 😅

Any advice on how to obtain replacement parts, even if they're modern 'same as' parts and not vintage, would be greatly appreciated. I've listed everything that we know about it and I'd love to get it back in working order. TIA!

Chrck if the motor shaft spins by hand ,check to make sure no bare wires from the motor ,the cloth wires may need to be covered with tape or shrink tube .Give it a test using a 6 volt battery .I have carefully taken the motor apart on mine and greased the bearings a each end after I tested mine.

There is a 3 speed motor I've offered free for the cost of shipping in the Swap Meet Freebies section. It is however 12v and if you are keeping your truck 6v it won't work but you could check the measurements if you're going 12v. Many of these motors used the same size casing, mounting bolt pattern, shaft diameter, etc and would swap out easily. You would need a 4 position switch...off, low, medium, high. Those are very easy to find.

JonG, I saw your listing, thank you! It doesn't look anything like mine. I'd love to find a 12-volt, since I've swapped from 6 (with the 261 motor), but they appear to be be too big. I'll go add pictures of it to my post. My husband didn't have those originally so I took some the other day.

Okay it has been listed again. If this works for you, my sincere suggestion is to get it. All these motors are made in China now. This one was made in the USA.
