So, I am tired of having to pull my carpet back every time I need to add brake fluid. So, I am going to run a remote tank that I hang on the firewall. My plan is to drill and tap a 1/4 NPT hole in the side of the master cylinder were the fluid goes and insert a brass fitting with some loc-tite on the threads. Then run a hose to my tank on the firewall. Is this the best way to do a remote tank for the master cylinder or does someone else have a better idea? Also, does anyone think it will leak through the pipe threads even if I put Loc-Tite on it, or the top of the master cylinder through the cap?
The fill cap is vented. There is a small hole drilled in from the side of the hex head of the cap. If you add a hose and an elevated reservoir, fluid will leak out of the cap. You could weld the vent hole closed, but you will need to have either a vented reservoir tank cap or one which has a modern bellows built into its cap.

You should not be losing any brake fluid such that there are frequent fills. What is the interval between "top ups"? Is the brake system all stock? If it is either fix the leaks or go modern MC and etc. Underfloor dual MC with firewall reservoir or other good plan.

The remote reservoir has modern bellows and the brake fluid should not rise above the brass fitting on the MC. The brake fluid does not leak anymore, but I just had to replace a leaking brake cylinder and you should occasionally bleed your brakes. But I never want to pull the floor mat back and fill the MC ever again. There is a reason they stopped putting the MC there.
I put a remote tank on my truck. I have the original MC but like you I did not want to crawl under the truck or take up my floor mat to check it. I made a new cover out of brass, then ran a brake line up to the firewall and install a motorcycle reservoir where I can check my fluid level at a glance.
OK then......... drill a hole in cap, take out the guts of THIS (or similar)........install in cap and clamp a hose to it. Or braze in the end of a flared tube.
If you don't trust the valve stem rubber to be fluid compatible use copper brake washers or cork gasket.. I used a VW remote reservoir once.
