1952 1/2 ton. Battery box is under passenger floor. Has an aftermarket carpet kit. The kit did not come with a "cut out" for the battery box. Carpet goes over floor sill down the door recess and snaps to secure.

Not a fan of this. What has been used by you guys?

Unfortunately that is common. Mine is the same way. Absolute PIA to take trim screws out and have them catch the carpet threading when reinstalling.

I did install the battery box that drops down to get better access. It still doesn’t allow for battery removal. I am going to look at modifying the front panel so it will open in order to remove the battery an install a battery.

You could always have the carpeting altered by an upholstery shop.

My carpet is not pinned down via trim strips. It just sits there. If I need to access the battery, I just lift the carpet and there we go.

My carpet has one screw in the carpet. Remove screw and lay back carpet. Easy to do. Don't need to fool with the battery that often.

My original rubber style floor covering had no battery access either. I've just accepted the 3 minutes required to use a battery powered drill with a screw driver bit chucked up to zip out 4 screws, remove the metal strip securing the edge of he floor mat and rolling said mat out of the way to open the battery box. Since it's usually only a once or twice a year deal, no problem. I do have a battery charger plug permantently installed that tucks neatly into the bottom of the battery box, just reach under the truck and pull it out to plug in a maintainer/trickle charger that I sometimes leave plugged up if not driving the truck for a spell.
