These rollers are solid steel and they do not turn, are they supposed to? They appear to just be riveted solid to the bars and really there is nothing to rotate. They have a rubber washer behind that probably is to stop rattling.. thanks.

If they are like the newer 1947/54 trucks there was once a leather roller in there that may have disintegrated..or that piece you call rubber washer is what is left of the leather and that is what fits into the track,check Jim carters trucks or one of the vendors for plastic replacement they should also specify what years they fit.

Here's what the Filling Station has to offer for the window regulator rollers. LINK I used these on my '51, which only requires a single roller per side. You'll need 4 sets.

Ok, thanks but if a set is just one roller, mine has 3 rollers per controller so I'd need 6 sets to do both doors? There is one on the bottom side in the picture.

That could be. They sell them in single sets because the later 51-55 trucks have only a single arm. I'm not familiar with the earlier window regulators. But the two on the bottom are what engage the track at the bottom of the glass. The arm in the upper right of your picture would probably need a track to run in if it has a roller on it.

Another option is you could find a replacement leather and slice it and slip it over the rivet so you don’t have to replace the rivet .I read this on one of the antique car sites ,Might be worth a search to see if you can find the thread .

The plastic rollers are a dream come true and easy to install.

What Carl said, punch out the old rivets, install the new plastic roller and peen the rivet with a cold chisel with a couple of marks in an X across the end of the rivet to expand it.
