Phat, for hauling only normal cars and pickups, given your choice of a ramp-bed car hauler truck (say, based on a one-ton chassis) or an equivalently powered/equipped tow vehicle with a 7500 GVW, properly equipped tandem tag-along trailer, which would you choose and why?

I'm ignoring cost issues - only considering convenience, ride, safety, etc.

Anybody else - feel free to jump in too.

Thanks,

---> Bill

I would go with the truck and trailer, that ramp truck would longer in most cases and use more fuel if you had to use it as a daily driver. and if the ramp truck goes down, you can haul anything. With the trailer, you can use a barrowed pickup if you had to, to haul your broken truck home. Also with the trailer, when it's not being used to haul something, it will just sit and not get worn out. If you left the truck sitting and only used it once a month, well it will need lots of repairs, I was in the NG and we only used the truck once a month, that always broke down, or need repairs, to much sitting around. in the real Army, where they use thier trucks daily, they didn't have that kind of trouble. Motorhomes are the same way, I have to make al kinds of repairs on the in-laws motor home every summer when they want to use it, with w trailer, just hook on and go. So anyway to make a short story long, I would choise the trailer.
