For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 198 Member | | Member Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 198 | I've seen a pictures of stands that people have made to put their cabs on that have wheels. I'm wondering if anybody has measurements, or plans for something like this?
I'm sure I can figure something out, but I figure why reinvent the wheel if I don't need to? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 80 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 80 | http://www.stovebolt.com/truck/cabdolly.htm Try this one, says he has plans if you email him. They make one called the "bottoms up" lift. They had plans or kits. Some fellas say to bolt a rig in the door hinge pockets and the door latch area, extend across door and bolt pivots to that. That way you can access all areas and it won't be in your way.

I've made two roller stands for my '39 cab and now my '49 cab (it just rolls around the shop floor). It's not real hard if you just apply a little common sense -- measure the width of the frame (where the cab mounts). Set two 2x4's or 2x6's on the shop floor set at the same widths, put stringers between 'em. Put casters on the bottom and carpet strips along the top and you're done.
I got a little fancy with my last one -- put double stringers (like a pallet) so I could lift the whole thing with the forklift (forks on the skidsteer).
You're only limited by your own creativity and common sense.
Good luck! John

yea I think this is a part I can handle alright... my fathers a carpenter, but I didn't learn near as much from his as I wanted too. I was always busy running his ranch was he was working... I've still picked up quite a bit a long the way. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 587 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 587 | My first post was about a body rotiserrie stand not a roller type, I misunderstood! I have used 2x10's or 2x12's on edge made into a box, much like a sandbox about 4ft square and ran a 2x6 across ends to mount swivel casters on (4" or bigger) and set the cab on it. Nice and higher too. I made sure the wood hit cab where the front mounts bolted on frame and about anywhere on back floor area. I have also used the upper frame from my COE frames to make similar roll around for them by removing from main frame and bolting to the above rack. Then it uses the orig mounts for cab. Your dad may have some 4ft lumber laying around to make this. Just use 16d nails ot lag bolts in corners, Nothing fancy. Also you can buy those wood and carpet made up racks at some of the Import tool stores for cheaper than the casters will cost probly and just add lumber to it to fit cab.
