I acquired a box of old tools. First time that I’ve seen wrenches like these. Anyone know anything about the manufacturer or purpose for the interesting style/shape?
Mike - A little web snooping on the first "591" wrench came up with a few similar wrenches being offered on ebay by different sellers in different parts of the country. Pics below from those ads were described as "Vintage Number 591 Hex Wrench Tractor or Steam Engine 6 Sided Tool" and "Antique Hex Wrench 591 Hit Or Miss / Tractor / Steam Engine 1 1/4" so that may be good info on that wrench. The other one may be for a similar piece of vintage/antique equipment. Looks very much like it may have been hand forged.

Judging by the raised numbers and the grind marks in the side of the handle, it appears to be sand cast steel.

When I snooped last month I came up with zilch. I need to up my game! Thanks for the Info. I’ll clean them up and hang them above the shop bench. They will be good for conversations.
