Good morning, first forum I have ever joined. I have 2 1940 1/2 ton trucks, both project trucks. 1 of them is in excellent condition, the other not so much but very good usable parts and with a lot of work could be back in the road.
As I get into working on the one I am sure I could use some of the experiences you all have had to help me along.
Thank you

Welcome to Stovebolt D. Exciting to have TWO project trucks. If you are wondering where to post from here, our garage layout may help you some.

It's nice to have a finished truck to use a reference for the other one.

Hello D,

How about posting some pics? We’d love to see them. Here's a thread showing how to do that.

Welcome

John

Hey new guy, welcome aboard. All of those other forums you haven’t joined probably didn’t encourage pictures. We can’t get enough of them. Fingers tapping, thumbs twiddling….😁

wELCOME ABOARD, d -- wHAT pAUL SAID. Please do not hesitate to ask questions (as you can see, keyboard skill isn't exactly a prerequisite here wink ).

Waaaaaaay back when (whilst the Earth was still cooling from being formed on the second day), this site was created as a '39 & '40 specific site. If you poke around the menu bar at the top, you should find a lot of info for these trucks lurking in our "legacy" Tech Tips, courtesy of Barry Weeks, Tom Brownell and others. If you need/want help finding them, let me know. I know how to navigate the Stovebolt catacombs .... (the reason they are hard to navigate is entirely my fault frown )

Should you also be a masochist with IT skills, check in with Ms. Peggy -- she'll put you to work smile

Just remember -- as you restore/save two pre-War Stovebolts, you are going to learn a lot and develop a bunch of skills in disciplines nearing extinction. All we ask is that you share what you learn with the next new guy (well, 15 or 20 new guys from now to give you time to learn enough to share wink ) so we can keep this hobby/semi-vocation alive. With Barry Weeks gone, we are needing a '39/'40 guru....

Thanks,
John
