I'm getting ready to install my rear axles. I have new bearings and wanting to know about pre-lubing them. I've seen some pack them with wheel bearing grease and some just soak them with the gear oil that they'll be using. Any recommendations? Does it matter? I'm thinking of just using the gear oil.

I'm envious of your nice new clean brakes and bearings. Do you have new drums, too?

Old drums, but in good shape and newly turned.

I have always added a little rear end lube to the bearings & filled the rear end a little over full.

I like to jack upon side at a time and allow line to run down the housing to each wheel bearing then recheck level.
