Happy New Year Stovebolters! Can anyone shed information on the window vent shade pictured? It appears to cover more than just the vented window. After-market? Manufacturer? Years available? Aluminum or steel? Where to find in 2025? Asking for a friend...

Thanks.

Those are most likely a JC Whitney type accessory.

There are new ones available for 51-55 AD trucks for sale on ebay right now. for $52. Just search for 1951-1955 1st accessory vent shades for Chevy, GMC truck

The trouble with those shades is if you're tall you can't see out from under them very well. Same goes for the front one over the windshield.

I had someone share with me privately that the window vent shade pictured is a home-made version. He remembered a guy producing them a few years ago. It appears that the early AD trucks did not have an option other than the now very rare and expensive Fulton side shields.

Wow - Bet those are about as rare as hens teeth as Jerry (HRL) would say! grin Your friend might grab a pair of those that Otto posted about above. He could modify/trim them up to try and get close to what you showed in the original picture.
