I’m wiring up the gauges and I’m trying to figure out what wires to use for this gauge. It’s a 12 volt system. New wiring harness and I’m using a foot starter with constant power supply.
From what I’ve read, both terminals require a positive feed. What are my options and to which?
Assuming battery gauge means ammeter.......assuming "which wires to use" means "how do I wire the ammeter".......or which harness wire numbers and colors to use?
One side of the ammeter gets battery voltage direct from the battery or bounced off the starter. The other side gets ALL the loads to read. ALL loads includes the alternator, the fuse panel, ignition switch. The ignition turns on some of the fuses. Other fuses are always hot.
The need for the mega fuses is debatable. I do not use them. Sometimes i use a fusible link. The harnesses usually do not support ammeters. They support voltmeters.
You are passing 99.99% of the voltage right thru the ammeter. A small millivoltage is tapped off to measure.

If you're asking about wire gauge, the original feed to the ammeter from the starter terminal was 10 gauge. That size was sufficient for 6 volt systems, so should be fine for 12V.

Thanks. I’ll give it a try. I was basically looking for availability of connections to use. My first wiring job and my harness doesn’t tell me what wires to connect.
