i don't know if you are aware of it, but craftsman has a tool club. you get a discount card good for 10 or so percent, and a flyer describing other discounted items. in most major cities there is also a sears outlet store selling scratched or dented stuff. maybe a good place to pick up a tool box. this is not an advert for sears, just a way to save you a few bucks. you can also find reduced price items at northern tool (they have a website) the order line number is 1-800-468-8298 for a free catalog. along the same lines as northern is h.d.c., or homier tools.
for you guys who are alittle, shall we say, snobbish, about tool brands, some of the hand tools offered by h.d.c. and homier can be alittle cheap made, but are probably o.k. for home use. on the other side, they do offer s.k., ingersol-rand, kennedy tool boxes, dewalt power tools and other name brands. as far as craftsman goes, i've never had problems with their products.
like i said, this is not trying to sell or recommend one brand over another, some guys like mac or snap-on or s-k or whatever. the point is some of us don't work as full time mechanics, and some do, but saving money is a good thing for all of us. hope you found this useful.
