And I have realized I need power steering I'm entering into my 70's now and it's a little tough in tight places. I ordered a kit from POL I have not put it in yet. I have the 3 speed on the column. Any advice or helpful hints qould be great thanks.

Not a terrible amount of difference, but enough that it could make some input inaccurate for your truck. A few more details and folks can offer you some good advice and suggestions. Edit: Sorry Mike. My tired eyes completely missed your signature line showing your '55 is a 2nd Series truck. I will see if I can find some older threads on the topic and post in another reply.

So far I found one older thread that deals specifically with installation of a POL kit in an Advance Design truck, but says the kit is meant for trucks through 1959. After reading through that, I'm not sure the kit will allow you to keep the steering column mounted 3 speed shifter??? Hopefully others with more knowledge than I have on the POl kit will chime in soon.

I contacted the POL person to make sure that it will work with my 3 speed on the column. They haven't shipped it yet, so we will see what going on they said it would work and I am sure it will with an automatic or 4 speed on the floor. Hope you had a good thanksgiving. And my valve job is doing great thanks so much for all your help, and working with me.
