After a car show where my wife saw the 1951 5 window, I found a 1948 about 40 miles from home.

The only problem was it was in as many pieces as one can make. So, my Dad, my brother and I went with trailers and loaded all the parts up and brought them home. It sat in a barn for a bit until I retired, and then I took it home to start on it.

I built a body dolly so I could move the cab around, as I am working by myself.

Then I got an S10 frame, made the mounts and we were moving along.

I kept on doing metal work, but when the time came, I went to a professional to do the paint and interior.

After paint, I brought it home and assembled it, chrome, electrical, engine, tranny, everything but the interior.

And this is the way we went. Laura picked the colors long before we were ready for any of it.

Then the finishing touch was the bed wood. Again, I did it.

We have been lucky enough to win a few awards at the car shows around central Texas.

You have a beautiful truck and congratulations on winning your awards.

What engine and drivetrain are you running? Can you post more pictures?

I was asked some questions about the 1948.

It has a 350 block, LS heads, a mild cam and a 750 dbl pumper, estimated about 365 hp, hooked up to a 4L60 and a 3.55 rear end.

And some more pictures of the 1948.

When I can get back to the computer, we'll get back to Ol' Blue, unless there are more questions about the '48, because I like to talk about it.

It is quite fun. Power steering, hydroboost power brakes and cruise control to go along with the 3.55 rear end and the horsepower work.

Thanks.
