I am ready to upgrade my old 3 ton floor jack as it is leaking and won't stay up too long. I was working on my mower deck and had it jacked up and went to the hardware store for some parts and when I returned the mower deck was on the ground along with the arm of my floor jack.

I've been looking around and like what I read and see about the new Sears 3.5 ton one stroke floor jacks (Sears Item #00950145000 Mfr. Model #50145) and while I"m not planning on pitting NASCAR here, the 200 short stroke pumps to get the jack to the frame or axel ends gets old quickly.

Anyone used these own one or know anything about jacks?

Rob: We have one that is close to what you describe, but I can't recall the brand name right now. It doesn't work completely like a NASCAR jack. With one stroke it will take up the distance from the floor to the frame etc. and then you have to pump it like a regular jack after it starts to lift the vehicle. It does work very well.

If you watch the NASCAR pit stops, the jack man really lunges on that jack to lift the car quickly. I think with normal usage they may not work as well as we may hope.

Bought a 3 or 3 1/2 ton @ Wally world last year. More like a shop jack, bigger wheels, the handle is attached. one pump to contact, the pump away. I like it real well. Much better than the smaller jacks with little wheels, small frame and handle that fits ina anotch

Check out Otto Service, http://www.hyjacks.com/ has a lot of basic jack info. on his web site and sells repair kits as well. You might consider a seal repair kit for your jack. Either the Otto site or another one I read last year when I was repairing mine says these Chinese jacks are only good for an average of 10 uses before the seal starts to leak. I have an old Walker 4-ton that I paid $25.00 for in the late '60s and it looked worn out then. Last year I paid more for a seal kit for it than a new Jack cost at Sears. But it lifts 24 inches and I don't expect to ever have to buy another jack.

Bought a Chinese one, 2-ton 5yrs ago, worked good all most all the time, till this last winter, kinda quit lifting very much per pump. Has a nice big saddle pad too. I now have a new 3-1/2 ton Chinese junker, with fast pedal, not one pump. It works OK, doesnt' seem to lift as hard as old lighter one did. Has smaller pad too? Some of those jacks that Sears and others sell are the imports too now, and have little 2" or so pads on them, sheesh! Size DOES matter!

25yrs ago got sears 21/2t. jack worked like a charm all these years, till younger brother thought he could jack up house with it, needless to say jack is no longer useable,blew out seals i guess. So i went to sears to get a new one, hey one pump looks good came with 2 jack stands even better. Piece of crap!! One pump gets you to the first thing it encounters them you pump till you can't pump anymore. Not impressed, will buy a professional jack soon.

Tommy, that's EXACTLY the type of feedback I was looking for. Appreciate all the viagra suggestions but the other jack has been working fine...it's a floor jack for my garage that I need!

Hey Kook, I bought a lawnmower from Sears about 10 years ago. I think I have permanent shoulder damage from the number of times I had to crank that pull chain to finally get it started the first time. It looked like the neighborhood was on fire from all the smoke pouring out. Turned out to have a cracked block or something. Sears took it back and gave me one that seemed to have a bad self propell mechanism. Finally I decided to dump Sears and I headed for the John Deere dealer. I said I'm here to buy a quality mower. He said OK and took me over to the Honda mowers, he said they were better. I hate to admit it but the Honda has been a good mower. As for the pump, sounds like a hormone problem. Sorry, I probably wasn't very helpful.
