Would it be too impractical to convert a hydraulic lifter 235 engine to mechanical lifters?

Would need to replace cam, lifters, pushrods, rocker arms; what else?

You would have to replace the lifters and cam but you might get lucky on the pushrods depending on your length (there are several over the years). Everything else is the same. I once had to use mechanical lifters on a hydraulic cam and it made a huge racket. So I adjusted the valve lash down to 0.002" and adjusted them about once a week to be on the safe side. Eventually, I got time to swap to a mechanical cam and all was well. This was back in the day when parts were readily available.
