Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the 235 and 216 thermostat housing opening? I removed a 216 from my 53 3100 and installed a rebuilt 235 (55 model best I can tell) I purchased. The opening on this 235 is clearly larger at 1 1/2 inches vice the 1 1/4 inches on my old 216. Not seeing any variance in hose sizes on Jim Carter trucks or the Filling Station other than the lower hose which needs a larger opening at the water pump.
Any suggestions or thoughts?

You can use the 216 thermostat outlet with the smaller hose opening on the 235. I picked up a 235 that had been set up for an older truck and it had the earlier bellhousing and the smaller thermostat outlet on it.
FWIW, the 1929-1957 Master Parts Catalog shows it to be the same from 1940-1957. Here's a snip.

Kevin,
Thank you, I was hoping I could just swap this out with the housing off my old engine.
